If we discuss the Character Education and Classroom management are inseparable in an Islamic school context. Seeing and reflecting good character softens the heart and the essential elements that define character in Islam – tazkiyah (character refinement) and taqwa (God consciousness) – are connected to the heart. Because of a good education leads to good character, so character refinement is an individual as well as a school community obligation and including concepts around: Discipline, management, students, Instruction, socilisation and positive learning environments. Character education and classroom management.

Therefore, the Departement of Islamic Education Management (MPI), Tarbiyah Faculty and Teaching Sciences, State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held a Public Lecture about " Character Education and Classroom Management" in order to address concerns and challenges and the opportunities in education management. The activities held on Wednesday Mei 10th , 2017 at the Meeting Room Tarbiyah Faculty and Teaching Sciences, was attended by about 120 students MPI from State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, State Islamic College of Curup and State Islamic Institute of Ponorogo. With invited speakers from Australia, namely Dylan Chown, Ph.D as Teacher of University of South Australia.

“Prophet Muhammad PBUH was the best teacher, because he modeled dignified conduct and impeccable adab. He preserved the dignity of the individual; whether adult, child, man or woman. and He addressed each individual based on what he understood to be as his or her cognitive abilities and spiritual nature.” Said Dylan Chown, Ph.D. Because of in the Islamic tradition. the teacher or (Kiai) is both a mu’allim (a transmitter of knowledge) and a murabbi (a nurturer of souls and morals). So, To develop strong and positive school culture emanating from the classroom, modelled by the teacher.

The goal is to align spirituality with character education, academics with deeper sacred knowledge, and adab as a way to transformation as individuals as well as community. And to assist in the alignment of the purpose of learning with the pedagogy (teaching approach) of the classroom. In the Implications to Islamic educational institutions that is on school vision or school policy, on teacher training, on parent partnerships and on community with Connectedness between the school community.
